Weekend Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our busy café team at Thetford Garden Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and successful business, supporting our chefs in delivering high-quality food and maintaining exceptional kitchen standards. The role offers part-time hours and could provide opportunities for career progression for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks as directed by the chefs.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen, including utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas.
  • Receive, unload, and organise food deliveries and kitchen supplies
  • Support stock rotation and storage procedures to minimise waste and ensure product quality.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a professional kitchen, restaurant, or catering environment.
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive, proactive, and willing-to-help attitude.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
  • Daytime shifts only – no evening work required.
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over
  • Availability to work every weekend
