Recycling

At Thetford Garden Centre we care about our community and our environment, and the impact we have. We currently operate at zero waste (no waste goes to landfill). We would like to encourage our community to not throw their unwanted small electrical appliances, plastic pots and seed trays and to rather recycle them.

Recycling of small electronic goods

To make it a little easier, we offer a convenient way for you to recycle your small electrical appliances when you buy a new one from us on a like-to-like basis (example: buying a new kettle, we will happily take your old kettle for recycling)

You can drop off your small appliance in-store and we will make sure it goes to the right processing centre.

The service is free and hassle free.

Why keep electrical appliances?

  • Keep the waste out of land fill sites.
  • Toxins will not leach into the soil or water systems which will protect the environment and wildlife.
  • Many components can be reused or recycled minimizing damage to natural spaces to get new materials to make goods.
  • Minimize your Carbon Footprint

Thetford Garden Centre supports recycling initiatives where it can help protect the environment and our community- falling under our sustainability values.

Thetford Garden Centre supports The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (WEEE)

Electrical and Electronic Equipment is to be regulated to reduce the amount of waste filling landfill sites or from being incinerated.

Reduction is to be achieved by recovery, reuse and recycling of products and their components.

How to recycle your plastic pots and seed trays?

To make it a little easier, we offer a convenient way for you to recycle your plastic pots and seed trays. We have collection bins placed in our External Garden Area where you may drop off your unwanted plastic pots and seed trays, or re-use any you may need.

When our bins are full, we will compact and bundle the plastic pots and trays and send them to a suitable sorting and recycling station for processing.

The service is free and hassle free.
