Catering Front of House Assistant & Supervisor
Join our award-winning Coffee shop team who have served over 25,000 cups of tea in the past year! We are looking for someone cheerful who can use their own initiative, work as part of a team and provide a fantastic service. Catering experience desirable.
25+ Hours per week, weekend work included with some weekends off.

A Jolly person is required for weekends in November and December and occasional days up to Christmas including Christmas Eve. Must be reliable and great with children. Job share a possibility.

Pay – we regularly check our pay against other similar retailers to make sure we are competitive. We review our employee’s basic pay annually.
Employee discount – Starting at 10% after your probation ends and increasing with your length of service up to 20%.
Pension – We are all aware of how important it is to save for our retirement. If you pay into our scheme and meet the government criteria, the company will too.
Paid holiday – in a full year holiday pay is 5.6 weeks, which includes 4 weeks holiday plus 8 bank holidays, pro rata.
Training and Development – we continually try and help our staff grow and learn new skills. Our supervisors and Managers are currently undergoing full training courses provided by an industry recognised organisation. All staff receive customer service, manual handling and job specific training. Merchandising, first-aid and forklift training is provided where necessary.
Childcare voucher –Employees can apply for childcare vouchers that are exempt from tax and NI which allows the employee to save money and put this towards their childcare costs.
Subsidised menu – We offer a reduced menu for all employees during their working hours which offer good food at reasonable prices.

I started working for Thetford Garden Centre more than 12 years ago when looking for a change in career, starting off as a Plant Area Assistant. It was not long afterwards that I became the first Assistant to be promoted to Supervisor level and now every department has a Supervisor to support the Department Manager.
Being “green fingered” means I enjoy working with all the plants, but that also extends to helping people with Hard Landscaping products meaning no two days are the same. The constant variation of work means you can help and inspire those new to gardening as well as assist the seasoned gardener find that one plant to fill a gap in their garden. As with all aspects of gardening, you will always learn something new every day.
Tina – Senior Till Assistant
I have been working at Thetford Garden Centre for nine years. I started as a Till Assistant and since I have been here I have had the opportunity to complete a Customer Service Apprenticeship which has put me in good stead. I am now a Senior Till Assistant and can process refunds and exchanges, I manage the Loyalty Card database and answer all manner of customer enquiries.
