Wild Bird Care

Why feed wild birds in our gardens?
Feeding birds in your garden can give enormous pleasure, watching them go about their daily business. Becoming ‘friends’ that we look out for and characters that we constantly recognise. More importantly it is for their health and survival through periods when there is little or no natural food available to them.

When should we feed them?
Birds should be fed all year round, as they soon come to depend on the food we provide. This is obviously compounded during the long winter months when they are less able to supplement the food that we give them with natural food.

Feeding Tips
• Maintain a continuous supply of fresh food and water.
• Use different foods and feeding methods, depending on types of birds attracted to your garden.
• Only put out enough food as will be consumed in a couple of days.
• Feeding stations should be located near to a source of cover. Be wary of making it easy for predators.
• Food should be stored in a cool, dry place.

Hygiene
When feeding birds always maintain a hygienic environment:
• Ensure feeding stations are regularly cleaned.
• Remove any old or wet food as soon as possible.
• Help reduce the risk of bacteria build up by changing feeding areas regularly.

We have a very extensive range of birdcare in store. This together with staff that are passionate and experienced within this field, we can help you get the right foods/feeders for your birds.
